Dearbhla Collins is regarded as one of Ireland’s finest and most versatile musicians. As well as being an accomplished and prize-winning solo pianist with a distinguished performing career nationally and internationally, she is respected equally as chamber musician and vocal coach and musical administrator.
She is currently Artistic Administrator to the prestigious triennial Veronica Dunne International Singing Competition in Dublin. She is a Patron of the Irish Freemasons Young Musician of the Year Competition. Dearbhla is a board member of Culture Ireland, the national agency for promoting the arts abroad and is also a member of the Board of the National Concert Hall, Dublin. She is also a piano teacher and vocal coach at the Royal Irish Academy of Music.
In recent years Dearbhla has specialised in the song repertoire and appears regularly in concert with Irish and international singers. She performs chamber music recitals with many of Ireland’s leading instrumentalists. She often teams up with her brother Finghin Collins for 4 hand recitals and 2 piano performances.
Since 2006, Dearbhla has travelled regularly to China, where she has given performances with bass John Molloy, mezzo soprano Aylish Kerrigan and soprano Lynda Lee, including a recital of Irish music in the prestigious National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing.
Recent engagements include concerts in New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta and Tunis with Judith Mok, soprano and a 4 hand concert with her brother, Finghin Collins at the Lismore Music Festival in June 2012. In May of 2013 she will join Finghin and Hugh Tinney for a performance of Mozart’s triple piano concerto to end the NSOI and Finghin Collins’ three year cycle of all the Mozart piano concerti.
