Elizabeth Csibi

Dublin-born Elizabeth Csibi studied at the Royal Irish Academy of Music and the College of Music in Dublin and later in London with Jaroslav Vanacek.  She was a member of the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland for many years and as principal viola with the Irish Chamber Orchestra from 1984 to 1995, toured extensively throughout Europe, Russia, China and the United States.  She is principal viola with the Orchestra of St Cecilia since it’s foundation in 1995, played solo viola with the contemporary ensemble Concorde, with whom she has premiered many works, and was a member of the Irish String Trio.

Elizabeth Csibi is Head of Strings and Professor of Viola at the Royal Irish Academy of Music, Dublin, as well as Director of the RIAM Chamber Orchestra with which she has travelled to France, the United States, Korea, China and Japan on tour.
