About Us
The Royal Irish Academy of Music has welcomed students from abroad for many years. We are a popular choice for foreign applicants as we have an excellent standard of teaching and we are situated in the heart of Dublin, one of the liveliest and most vibrant capital cities in Europe. The international students that have studied with us have all commented on how welcome they felt and how easy it was to make friends and settle in.
The application deadline for students wishing to audition for our third level courses is February 1st of each year. For application information please contact generaloffice@riam.ie.
We welcome ERASMUS students and have a different application procedure which is outlined below. Student applications must be made through the ERASMUS officer of your own institution, but our International officer, Deborah Kelleher, is happy to respond to all queries at the following e mail address: dkkelleherdeborah@gmail.com
The ERASMUS application deadline is April 1st of each year for both the September and January semesters. Late applications WILL be considered subject to availability of places. We try to let students know our decision by June 1st each year.
All ERASMUS applications must contain the following:
• A CD of 15 minutes performance
• A CV
• A learning agreement (your own institution will have this)
• An application form (your own institution will have this)
• A letter of recommendation from your teacher
• A letter of motivation from yourself
These documents should be posted to: Deborah Kelleher, Royal Irish Academy of Music, 36, Westland Row, Dublin 2, Ireland.
In 2009 we welcomed German singing student, Nicole Leidinger, on the ERASMUS exchange programme. Read here some comments she made about her stay.
