Classical Guitar Syllabus 2012-2014
The Academy has been notified that the third edition of the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) Guitar Series has been discontinued. Candidates may now use the RCM ‘Bridges: A Comprehensive Guitar Series’ instead. This series is available from Preparatory to Level 8 and corresponds with Local Centre Primary to Grade VIII.
Primary and Grade I:
Candidates may choose any three contrasting pieces as follows:
Primary Grade: candidates may select pieces from ‘Preparatory Guitar Repertoire and Studies’
Grade I: candidates may select pieces from ‘Guitar Repertoire and Studies 1’
Grades II to VIII:
Candidates must prepare three pieces – each piece must be selected from a different list
in the Table of Contents as follows:
- Traditional, Renaissance, and Baroque
Repertoire - Classical and Romantic Repertoire
- 20th and 21stCentury Repertoire
- Studies
For instance, Grade II candidates will use ‘Guitar Repertoire and Studies II’ etc.
