Jennifer Mc Cay graduated with a Bachelor degree (Hons) in Music Education from Trinity College Dublin, in conjunction with the Royal Irish Academy of Music, before continuing her studies in University College Dublin were she was awarded a Masters in Musicology. During this time she tutored in tonal analysis and keyboard skills in UCD.
Jennifer is currently undertaking doctoral research on the music of Dr Kevin OConnell and has a particular interest in contemporary music. To date she has presented her research at conferences of the Society of Musicology in Ireland in Dublin, Derry and Belfast, and at the First International Conference on Irish Music and Musicians in Durham (July 2010). Jennifer has contributed to the Encyclopedia of Music in Ireland and The Musicology Review Issue 7. She was co-editor of The Musicology Review for Issue 6.
Jennifer lectures in harmony and counterpoint, music history, aural analysis and junior musicianship classes in the Musicianship Faculty of the RIAM. She is also Senior Examiner with their Local Centre Examinations Office.
Jennifer attained Licentiate and Associate Diplomas in Piano under Professor Deirdre Doyle and is pianist for Pro Nuova of the Pro-Cathedral, Dublin.
