Continuing Professional Development for Singing Teachers
The RIAM Vocal Faculty is delighted to announce the introduction of one day courses designed for Singing Teachers. The first one day intensive course will be given by Professor Kathleen Tynan [Head of Vocal Studies], Sylvia O’Regan, Mary Brennan, and Philip O’Reilly. It will be held at the Royal Irish Academy of Music on Friday April 29th 2011, from 10.00am – 6.00pm and will consist of the following:
‘Posture Positive Vocal Production’ [Sylvia O’Regan]
This session will focus on the correct posture and breathing needed to produce good singing. It will also include a masterclass with young singers.
‘English Song for Young Singers’ [Mary Brennan]
This session will include repertoire suggestions for English song and Irish folksongs and a masterclass with young singers.
‘Getting technical!’ [Philip O’Reilly]
This session will offer guidance on the preparation of technical exercises and Vaccai studies which feature in the RIAM Local Centre Examination Syllabus.
‘Beyond Caro mio ben…’ [Kathleen Tynan]
Exploring the Italian arie antiche repertoire and focussing specifically on those set in the RIAM Local Centre Examination Syllabus. This session will also include a masterclass with young singers.
Attendance at the course will cost €300 (€225 for teachers who submit students for RIAM Local Centre Examinations). Fees and the completed entry form should reach the General Office at the Academy by 30th March, 2011. Please make cheques, postal orders etc. payable to the Royal Irish Academy of Music and mark envelopes Perfect Pitch. We regret that, for security reasons, we are unable to accept cash.
