Performing Groups
The Academy's newest performing group, the RIAM Choral Society, was founded in September 2003 under the directorship of James Cavanagh. Its current director is Blanáid Murphy. Soloists with the group are generally drawn from members of the Choral Society, all of whom are senior singing students of the RIAM. The Choir has already performed in Dublin Castle, the National Gallery of Ireland, the National Concert Hall and on RTÉ Radio1. Future plans include visits to Dublin's National Concert Hall.
RIAM Junior Choirs
The three Junior Choirs are made up of children aged between 8 and 16 who meet on Saturdays to explore songs for the young under the musical direction of Denise Coleman and Elizabeth Keighary. The Choirs have already collaborated with the RIAM Junior Strings in a concert in aid of Our Lady's Hospital for Sick Children and future plans include a showcase concert at the Academy later in the year.
