Tim Vogler was born in Berlin. He studied at the Hochschule für Musik “Hanns Eisler” Berlin and was recipient of prizes at various national and international competitions.
Tim is first violinist in the Vogler String Quartet since its foundation in 1985. The group studied in Berlin and Cincinnati with Eberhard Feltz, Walter Levin, Sándor Végh, György Kurtàg. Since 1987 the quartet has given extensive concert tours in Europe, USA, Canada and Japan and recorded numerous Radio and CD productions.
Tim is Artistic leader at the “Kammermusiktage Homburg”, the “Music in Drumcliffe Festival” in Sligo (Ireland) and the “Nordhessische Kindermusiktage” in Kassel and has given masterclasses for chamber music in Germany for “Jeunesses Musicales” in Schloss Weikersheim, “Sommerakademie Niedersachsen”, “Villa Musica Rheinland-Pfalz”, as well as in Toronto, Cincinnati, Calgary, Dallas, Riga. In 2013 he was invited to teach and perform at the “McGill International String Quartet Academy” in Montreal.
Tim’s teaching experience includes a faculty position at the Hochschule für Musik “Hanns Eisler” Berlin, and guest professor for violin at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold. Between 2007 and 2012 he was Professor of chamber music at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Stuttgart.
In addition to his performing and teaching work, Tim has been a jury member in the String Quartet competitions in Bordeaux, Trondheim and Banff.
In 2012 Tim Vogler was appointed International Visiting Artist at the Royal Irish Academy of Music, Dublin.
