Diploma Exams
RIAM certified teachers and performers are dedicated lifelong learners who are passionate about playing their part in music and drama education and performance.
We currently offer three Diplomas: DipRIAM, ARIAM and LRIAM. To review syllabi, dates and fees for these, follow the linked images below:
DipRIAM
The DipRIAM is a music teaching diploma offered in music. It qualifies the successful candidate to teach students up to and including Grade V RIAM Exam/ABRSM level.
The DipRIAM is assessed through videos and case studies and a practical demonstration from candidates who prepare six pieces from the RIAM Exams Grade V syllabus.
Associate of the Royal Irish Academy of Music (ARIAM)
The ARIAM offers a choice of performance and teaching pathways in:
- Music
- Speech and Drama
- Composition (Not available for booking until September 2024)
- Harmony and Counterpoint (Not available for booking until September 2024)
The Diploma is assessed by performance examination based on a choice of set repertoire, viva voce and written examinations. The ARIAM qualifies the successful candidate to teach up to grade 8.
Licentiate of the Royal Irish Academy of Music (LRIAM)
The LRIAM offers a choice of performance and teaching pathways in:
- Music
- Speech and Drama
- Composition (Not available for booking until September 2024)
- Harmony and Counterpoint (Not available for booking until September 2024)
The Diploma is assessed by a performance examination based on a choice of set repertoire, viva voce and written examinations. The LRIAM qualifies the successful candidate to teach advanced musicians up to Diploma level.
