RIAM’s Lifelong Learning offers a wide selection of professional development courses for music teachers and professionals.
We are proud to offer programmes of study that are designed to inspire and refresh your working lives, and give you the opportunity to meet new friends and colleagues.
Current teaching skills/CPD courses include:
Key Skills – a series of 1-day courses around the country for piano teachers, covering the pieces on the RIAM Piano Exam syllabus
All music teachers
Teacher’s Toolkit – a 10-week course on the practicalities and principles of music pedagogy
Musicianship Clinic – an 8-week course on teaching theory to music students
Teaching Music for Special Needs Students – a 1-day course aimed at primary, secondary, and private music teachers
Find Your Flow and Flourish – a 1-day course which offers instrumental and vocal teachers the tools to equip their students with the skills and coping strategies they need to thrive under pressure
RIAM Teacher Summer Conference – guest speakers present seminars on topics on key interest to teachers in this one day event (details to follow)
- Foundation in Conducting – a group course for developing good conducting technique, suitable for those who are proficient at their instrument but would like to build their skills and experience in ensemble and choral conducting
