Under-18 Composers' Competition

Prize: A cash prize of €150. Winning entry published in 2024 Albums
Eligibility: You must be under the age of 18 on 31/12/2023. 
Closing date: Friday 6th October, 2023

At the RIAM we are keen to encourage developing composers and creators. The RIAM Exams Composition Competition is a great opportunity for students to share their creative skills.  

The following requirements apply: 

• The standard of the piece composed can be for any grade up to and including Grade V 

• The piece should be given a descriptive title 

• We recommend that you consult current and recent RIAM Exam Piano Albums to become familiar with the level of difficulty for each grade. 

• Students may only submit a maximum of two entries in any competition 

• Age limit:  under 18 on 31/12/2023 

• Prize: cheque to the value of €150 and inclusion of winning compositions in Piano Album (following year);  performance of compositions by examination candidates countrywide
