Course Introduction

Discover how to use technology as a form of assessment or as an aid to teaching instrumental classes, musicianship, or the Leaving certificate practical programme in this one-day practical course.

Learning how to get the most from a mix of programmes on desktop/laptop computers as well as iPads and IOS (Apple Mac) Apps will allow teachers to create a ‘blended’ learning approach which has become the norm for teaching during the past year.

Course Outline

  • How to use the computer program MuseScore to

    • Set up a score and add notation

    • Create dictation files for musicianship, Practical sight reading or sight clapping tests

    • Complete the Music Technology component of the Leaving Certificate practical component worth 25%

  • How to use and create online assessments on Ed Puzzle, Microsoft Forms and Quizlet to help assess students’ performance and ability in both distance and live learning environments

  • How to use various iPad Applications as part of online/ blended or live teaching and learning such as Loom, GoodNotes, Board Cam, Show Me etc.

Age: 18+


  • A computer or laptop
  • A second devise (eg: Tablet or Smart Phone is preferable but not necessary
  • MuseScore 3 downloaded to device ahead of the course
