The 50 x 20 Final Mile
Thanks to the generosity of the Irish government and key philanthropists, RIAM has raised over €21 million towards the re-development of our Westland Row campus, and we have entered the final mile of our marathon to close out the campaign.
If you’ve ever run a marathon, you’ll know the pain of “hitting the wall.” RIAM’s Head of Development recently “hit the wall.” She turned to two of RIAM’s most supportive donors in the US to look for advice, and the result was the 50 x 20 campaign.
The challenge? Find twenty donors to gift €50,000 each.
The result? €1,000,000 to bring us closer to the finish line.
The benefit to the donor? They will have a teaching room in the new building named after them, and this elite corps of twenty heroes will be acknowledged together on a plaque in the new building.
The benefit to RIAM’s Head of Development? She can quietly retreat into her happy obsession with 19th and 20th-century Russian literature and her secret fan love for Brahms and Dickens - in equal measures.
To date, we have six heroes:
- Bill Murphy
- Tim Delaney
- Pa Nolan
- Michael Brewster
Could you help us to get to the 50% point on this campaign? We just need four more champions.
One of our supporters outlined their reason for supporting the campaign by saying, “The Academy plays such an incredibly important role in the fabric of Ireland’s educational ecosystem – from getting children started via the local centres, right through to moulding generations of Irish professional musical talent.” If you agree with these sentiments, then this could be the next initiative that will benefit from your support.
