Amy Ryan
Amy Ryan holds a master’s degree with distinction in Music Pedagogy from the Kodály Institute of the Liszt Academy of Music, Hungary, where she also worked as Teaching Assistant while studying for her Advanced Diploma (distinction) in Choral Conducting, under Professor Peter Erdei.
Amy was awarded the Eamonn Kelly Memorial Bursary and the Arts Council Travel and Training award in support of her studies in Hungary, and upon completion of her studies was awarded the Kodály Institute’s ‘red diploma’ in recognition of outstanding academic performance.
Amy currently lectures in Aural and Keyboard Skills at Trinity College, Dublin, Curriculum Music at St Patrick’s College, Drumcondra and Pre-Instrumental Training at the Royal Irish Academy of Music. Amy also directs the award-winning Tallaght Hospital Choir, and is Artistic Director of both the Music Generation Wicklow County Children’s Choir and the Wicklow Get Vocal Programme.
Former Conductor in Training with the Irish Youth Choir, she has since worked with many high-level choral groups, including the Irish Youth Chamber Choir, UCD Philharmonic Choir, Lyric Opera Chorus, Dublin Bach Singers and the Summer Music in Galway Youth Opera. An active choral singer, she has sung with groups such as the Mornington Singers, Trinity College Singers, the Irish Youth Chamber Choir and Dublin Bach Singers. Amy is also an experienced cellist, having played in numerous orchestras and chamber ensembles both in Ireland and further afield.
