Erasmus

Incoming Erasmus+ Students

RIAM welcomes students on the Erasmus + programme for a semester (winter or spring) or a full year! We most commonly can accommodate students in their 3rd year of BMus Performance degree but would welcome Master's students as well.

How to Apply?

You can apply through the EASY application system on this link:

https://mobility.aec-music.eu/

First of all, make sure you inform your home institution Erasmus Coordinator of your wish to study on Erasmus+, they will have to accept and nominate you formally. They will deal with the grant part of the application, while the Learning Agreement and Credits (ECTS) awarded for the mobility will be drawn between both institutions at a later stage.

Applications for the Academic Year 2026/27 will open from December 1st 2025 and close May 1st 2026. Please ensure your application is complete with your standard personal information, CV and YouTube video links and relevant dates. They will be reviewed by our instrument/vocal specialist teacher and the outcome of your application communicated in end of May 2026. We recommend a minimum level of B1 English language proficiency but do not require formal certification.

RIAM has Erasmus bi-lateral agreements with the conservatoires on this link:

RIAM Erasmus Partner Institutions

If your conservatoire is not currently affiliated with us you can still apply and we will draw up an inter-institutional agreement with them when needed.

Life as a RIAM Erasmus+ student is full on and exciting as you will have the chance to get involved in our screened orchestral auditions, Performance Spotlight Weeks and ensemble projects (Philharmonia orchestra, Chamber Music, Opera Production) and be exposed to many internationally renown visiting Professors as well as our world class teaching Faculty.

Finding accommodation in Dublin can be challenging so we encourage students to research ahead of time to make sure you can budget adequately and enjoy a fruitful Erasmus+ Experience. We will send you a pre-arrival pack ready to give you essential pointers as international students settling into life abroad.

Outgoing Erasmus+ Students

RIAM highly encourages its students to undertake a long term Erasmus + mobility for a semester or full year abroad. We especially recommend planning your mobility during your 3rd year of BMus programme as it is the most flexible year academically.

Experiencing other cultures, exploring new musical influences, being exposed to different teaching styles and methods will bring out essential qualities of adaptability, curiosity and forge your confidence as a musician. Building a new network of friends and future colleagues, immersing yourself in a fresh creative environment  are invaluable ways to broaden your skills and prepare you for your professional music career.

We also recommend you research specific teachers you might be interested in studying with and contact them directly to signify your interest in going on an Erasmus+ mobility, this can help your application along.

Make sure you inform your home institution Erasmus Coordinator Hannah Levy at hannahlevy@riam.ie of your wish to study on Erasmus+ as soon as you can during the course of the previous academic year from the desired year of mobility.

An in-house presentation session will be offered to all RIAM students early November 2025 to help you map your Erasmus+ mobility wishes and clarify the administrative process for all applicants willing to go on Erasmus for the 2026/27 academic year.

RIAM will deal with the grant part of the application, please note the EU grant stipend is design to support travel and part of your accommodation abroad but will not cover the cost of your Erasmus mobilty in full.
