RIAM Wind Ensembles
RIAM Junior Wind Ensemble and RIAM Symphonic Wind Ensemble
The RIAM Symphonic Wind Ensemble was founded in 1995 by the late Victor Malĭr.
Since September 1999, the Ensemble has worked under the baton of the RIAM’s Head of Woodwind, Brass and Percussion, Fergus O’Carroll.
This vibrant group of musicians has given many performances at both the Royal Irish Academy of Music and National Concert Hall, and has a strong association with the Dublin County Choir, collaborating with its musicians in popular seasonal concerts at the National Concert Hall at Christmas.
The Ensemble performs a wide and eclectic repertoire including traditional wind band repertoire, orchestral transcriptions and arrangements, rock and pop, as well as Irish arrangements and original compositions.
In 2002, the RIAM Junior Wind Ensemble was established to give young wind players an opportunity to perform music for this very popular medium.
