Level 5 Restrictions - Library update 23/10/2020

The RIAM Library is now located on the lower ground floor of No 40 Westland Row. Following the Government guidelines for Further and Higher Education, we will continue to provide services for Third-level students during Level 5 restrictions. During this period, our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10.00-18.00. Click and Collect service is available and loans can still be returned to the Returns Box in the Reception Area of No 36.

Library Use - Please note the following:

  • Study/Reading spaces must be booked online before use 
  • Users are required to wear masks at all times during their visit
  • In line with public health guidelines, the number of visitors to the Library at any one time is capped 
  • Social distancing must be maintained
  • Hands should be sanitised

We are continuing to provide support and research services remotely. Our Electronic Resources and E-journals provide a broad range of online materials. To find out more about this, read our page on using services from home. 

All library loans are being automatically renewed and no fines will accrue. 


The RIAM Library offers music books, scores, orchestral and choral sets, and recordings in multiple formats. Online research databases and journals are also available.We also provide listening stations, computers and printers, as well as copying and scanning facilities.

Opening Hours

During Level 5 Restrictions, we will be operating reduced hours: Monday-Friday: 10.00-18.00

Monday - Wednesday 10.00 - 18.00
Thursday 10.00 - 20.00
Friday 10.00 - 18.00
Saturday 10.00 - 13.00 & 14.00 - 17.00



During Level 5 Restrictions, we will not be allowing access for external users or MusicPAL card holders.

All part-time and full-time RIAM students can borrow materials and access our electronic resources on campus and from home.

Outside users are welcome to visit and consult our collections. Please contact us in advance.

We are a member of the Music PAL Scheme. This enables members of other Irish libraries to consult our collections. It also enables RIAM students and staff to access other Irish University libraries.

If you have graduated from any of our third-level programmes, you can sign up for our Graduate Membership Scheme for a small fee using the form below.
