Hélène Montague

Hélène Montague has enjoyed a forty-year professional career in Irish theatre. She is a founding member of Rough Magic Theatre Company, where she has worked as an actor, musician and musical director on countless productions. Born in Stockholm and raised in West Cork, she was educated at home, studying music, dance and theatre from an early age. She has worked extensively as an actor and musician across theatre, radio, television and film, and currently works as a director and teacher in theatre and opera.

At RIAM, Hélène works as an Acting Coach and has directed opera scenes, musical theatre workshops and full opera productions. These include the film adaptation of Kevin O’Connell’s contemporary Irish opera DreamCatchr and, most recently, Haydn’s La vera costanza at the Samuel Beckett Theatre in 2025.
