Flutist Meadhbh O’Rourke wins Maura Dowdall Competition 2022

Flautist Meadhbh O’Rourke has been announced as the winner of the Maura Dowdall Competition in 2022, this award includes the Maura Dowdall Prize of €600 and a performance opportunity with the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland. She was also awarded the Brian Dunning Memorial Prize, a new prize given in memory of the recently deceased past pupil of the RIAM. These awards are generously funded by the Dowdall Family.

Meadhbh is a final year MMus student with Professor William Dowdall and Sinéad Farrell. She balances her studies with a busy freelance career, featuring regularly as a guest Flute and Piccolo player with many of Irelands leading orchestras such as the National Symphony Orchestra, Concert Orchestra, Ulster Orchestra and Crash Ensemble.
