IMRO Hosts RIAM Amplify Research Day
Members of the RIAM Faculty as well as Masters and Doctorate students come together to present their research projects, with guest speaker is Keith Johnson, Director of Marketing and Membership, IMRO.
Presentations will include talks on music-making and wellbeing, privilege in classical music, holistic approaches to pedagogy, modern stagings of Grand Opera, a deconstruction of Jonathan Nangle's Surface Patterns by the composer himself, an examination of chosen repertoire from the Cork International Choral Festival, a new perspective on the Organ, as well as explorations of works by Ina Boyle and recordings by the Bohemian Quartet.
The day will also feature a number of 10-minute Lightning Talks on 'Alan Louis Smith: Musically setting the history of American Immigration', 'An Investigation of Jānis Mediņš’s Piano Sonata (1946)', 'A Humorous Snapshot of an Irish Catholic Mass', and 'Contextual Knowledge as a Performance Tool in Petr Eben's Song Cycles.'
