The Mohamed Amouri Hasdrubal Foundation for Culture and the Arts has recently signed an International Partnership Agreement with the Royal Irish Academy of Music (RIAM). This agreement, led by Laurent Jost, Musical Director of the Hasdrubal Foundation, along with Raouf Amouri, Vice-President of the Foundation, and Deborah Kelleher, Director of RIAM, is part of a larger strategy to foster artistic and academic collaboration between Tunisia and Ireland. This partnership complements the Hasdrubal Foundation's existing collaborations with prestigious institutions like the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, and the Royal Academy of Music in London. The agreement signifies the international expansion of the Hasdrubal Foundation as a key player in the global music scene.
The partnership focuses on an exchange program emphasizing intercultural dialogue and transmission of musical traditions. The program will involve academic mobility and training for students from Tunisia, Ireland, and other European countries. Irish students will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in Tunisian and Arab-Andalusian music, while talented Tunisian students will gain access to RIAM’s Bachelor of Music program, which is accredited by Trinity College Dublin. This initiative highlights the Hasdrubal Foundation's dedication to providing young musicians with a platform for artistic experimentation and cultural exchange.
The agreement will be implemented through structured training sessions organized annually in Tunisia. These week-long sessions will feature both Western classical music instruction, delivered by Irish, British, French, and Austrian musicians, and in-depth explorations of Tunisian and Arab-Andalusian repertoires. Students from both regions will have the opportunity to perform in concerts that blend Eastern and Western music traditions, further enhancing their stage experience and cultural understanding. The sessions will also involve international teachers and tutors, ensuring a high level of educational quality.
This partnership is supported by key cultural and diplomatic institutions, including the French and Austrian Embassies in Tunisia and the Tunis Opera Theater. By forging international collaborations, the Hasdrubal Foundation continues to strengthen its influence on the global music scene, promoting the talents of young Tunisian musicians and fostering greater cultural understanding between the Maghreb and Europe.
