Published: 16th Apr, 2024

ChamberFest Dublin, one of the Royal Irish Academy of Music's flagship events, invites audiences to enjoy a feast of chamber music at Ireland's Music Conservatoire.

Taking place from Monday 22 April to Thursday 2 May, this ambitious and student-led festival offers audiences a selection of morning, lunchtime, and early evening chamber music concerts from the RIAM's Undergraduate and Postgraduate students in the Academy's historic Organ Room and magnificent Whyte Recital Hall.

The festival features 45 chamber music groups in 16 live concerts of works by Beethoven, Haydn, Shostakovich, Dvorak, Debussy, Mozart and more, alongside contemporary works by Steve Reich, George Crumb, and the Irish premiere of Jonathan Dove's Seven Angels.

Founded in 2019 by the RIAM's Head of Strings and Chamber Music, Sarah Sew, ChamberFest Dublin is rooted in the RIAM's aim to provide full-time students with high-quality and meaningful performance experiences. Speaking about the exciting approach to programming the festival, Sarah Sew said: "The creation of ChamberFest Dublin is a truly collaborative process, with students and faculty working together in multiple aspects. From the initial formation of groups and choosing of repertoire to the programming themes that run through the festival, behind the scenes production and festival promotion — students, faculty and administrative staff have co-created, with students playing a leading role. The range and depth of works featured in the festival are testament to the creativity of our students and faculty.
