The Royal Irish Academy of Music (RIAM) is proud to report significant progress on gender pay equality, reflecting our commitment to fairness and inclusivity. Our 2025 Gender Pay Gap Report shows a median pay gap of just 0.5%, down from 5.1% in 2024, and a mean gap of 6.3%, compared with Ireland’s national average of 9.6% and higher education norms of 7% to 12%.
Female representation in the highest pay quartile has risen from 51% to 61%, signalling a strong shift toward gender balance at senior pay levels. Governance and leadership also show positive gender balance, with 57% female representation on our Governing Body and 60% of Faculty Heads being women.
This progress builds on RIAM’s transformative journey, including campus redevelopment, curriculum reform, and family-friendly policies such as enhanced parental leave, menopause support, and flexible working.
