Published: 18th Jul, 2023

The Royal Irish Academy of Music today announced Clinch Wealth Management’s support of the upcoming Wigmore Hall Festival Dublin, in which world-renowned musicians come to Dublin to launch the new Whyte Recital Hall at RIAM – a 300-seat chamber music and recital hall in the heart of Dublin City Centre. Clinch’s support will enable 100 third-level music performance students to attend these concerts completely free of charge.

This September, the Royal Irish Academy of Music will launch Ireland’s newest cultural venue with a lineup of incredible artists, including pianists Mitsuko Uchida, Jonathan Biss and Sir Stephen Hough, The Schumann Quartet, cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason, and soprano Regula Mühlemann, as part of a Wigmore Hall Festival.

Presented in partnership with Clinch, one of Ireland's largest privately-owned financial advisory firms whose culture of integrity, expertise and client service attracts many clients from the creative fields, the Wigmore Hall Festival, Dublin, aims to put the Whyte Recital Hall at RIAM on the map as the natural home for chamber and ensemble music in Dublin.

Through Clinch's generous support, 100 tickets will be offered free of charge to students of Ireland’s three music conservatoires, The Royal Irish Academy of Music, TU Dublin Conservatoire, and MTU Cork School of Music, across the five concerts.

Deborah Kelleher, Director at the Royal Irish Academy of Music, said: “The Royal Irish Academy of Music is thrilled to welcome Clinch as supporting partner to this incredible lineup of artists. From the moment these concerts were announced, I knew we had to find a way to make tickets affordable to aspiring professional performers, who will now get the opportunity to witness the world's leading artists free of charge. Tom, Michele, and Andrew at Clinch immediately saw the value in giving an opportunity for the next generation of bright musical minds to meet their hero in an exciting new cultural asset for Ireland. We are delighted to partner with Tom and his team and hope to work together on more projects into the future.”

Tom Clinch, Managing Director, Clinch Wealth Management, said: “Clinch Wealth Management is very proud to be partnering with RIAM to present the inaugural Wigmore Hall Festival at the truly spectacular new Whyte Hall. This world-class chamber music hall is a major new cultural venue for Dublin and Arts lovers nationwide. We are delighted to help launch its first concert series and to bring the superstars of world chamber music to an Irish audience. As a keen supporter of the Arts and Education, Clinch is particularly pleased to provide free access to these milestone concerts to 100 aspiring musical talents from across the country. About the Wigmore Hall Festival, Dublin:

On March 29, 2023, John Gilhooly, Director of London’s Wigmore Hall and Fellow of the Royal Irish Academy of Music (RIAM), announced a Wigmore Hall Festival to open the new Whyte Recital Hall in the redeveloped RIAM campus in Dublin, bringing world-class artists to Ireland’s intimate new chamber music venue.  Some of the top artists from Wigmore Hall’s 2023/2024 season will travel to RIAM in September 2023 to open the new 300-seat hall. Dublin audiences can expect world-class, intimate performances in superb acoustics from international artists of the highest calibre.

Alongside the performances, artists will give exclusive masterclasses and Q & A sessions to RIAM students, providing unparalleled access to the experience and teachings of these world-renowned performing artists.

The Festival opens with pianists Mitsuko Uchida and Jonathan Biss who together perform works by Schubert for piano duo (Tue 5 Sept), and continues with pianist and composer Sir Stephen Hough performing Liszt, alongside works by Mompou, Debussy, Skryabin and one of his own works (Tue 12 Sept).

Viktor Ullmann, who was murdered by the Nazis in Auschwitz-Birkenau in 1944, had composed a number of works in another camp – Theresienstadt – in 1943, which remarkably survived. Among them is his String Quartet No.3, performed by the Schumann Quartet (Tue 19 Sept).

Sheku Kanneh-Mason, the young star cellist who was the BBC Young Musician of the Year in 2016, performs works by Brazilian composers with guitarist Plínio Fernandes (Tue 26 Sept), and fresh from her recital debut at Wigmore Hall, the exceptional Swiss soprano Regula Mühlemann performs Lieder by Schubert and Strauss, and English and American Song by Frank Bridge and Dominick Argento (Thu 28 Sept) closing the Festival.
