Wind and Brass Family Day at the Academy!
Family Day at the Royal Irish Academy of Music, March 13th, 2011
Students and Staff at the Royal Irish Academy of Music invite young and old alike to help them put the oom into oom pah pah during the Academy’s first ever Woodwind and Brass Family Day on March 13th between 2.00 pm and 5.00 pm. For anyone who has ever wanted to blow their own trumpet, try out a tuba or toot a flute, this engaging afternoon event offers a rare opportunity to meet and mingle with the colourful Wind and Brass families of the Orchestra.
Admission is Free!
During the afternoon, teachers and students of the Academy will demo’ a wide range of wind instruments and offer aspiring musicians an opportunity to try out their own personal favourites! Practical advice on starting your own musical adventure at the Academy will be available and visitors can also look forward to a veritable musical feast of live performances and open rehearsals by the RIAM Junior Wind Ensemble and RIAM Symphony Orchestra.
Instruments on the musical tasting menu are Recorder, Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon, Saxophone, French Horn, Trumpet, Trombone and Euphonium and Tuba, with 20-minute sessions on each instrument offered throughout the afternoon at the following times:
2.00pm, 2.25pm, 2.50pm, 3.15pm, 3.55pm, 4.20pm
“Tasting” places limited to 10 per instrument per session (excluding family spectators)
