Event Description
A Co-Creative Music Composition Performance led by Composer Karen Power
RIAM’s Co-Creative Music Composition Programme led by the award-winning composer Karen Power aims to overcome barriers to participation in artistic creation for people living with disabilities.
In 2024, RIAM created Ireland’s first mixed ensemble, which is made up of equal numbers of RIAM students and participants living with a disability interested in music. Under the leadership of Karen Power, who has extensive international experience in co-creative and inclusive practices, the inclusive ensemble moves through a series of listening, responding and improvising tasks in order to establish a new musical language that is built from within.
Following two highly-successful performance projects in 2024 and 2025, these inspirational musicians come together once again to co-create and perform a brand new compostion, on this occasion based on ‘found’ sounds recorded in the RHA Gallery.
Presented in partnership with the Royal Hibernian Academyof Arts
