RIAM Gala Concert in the Whyte Recital Hall at RIAM

Whyte Recital Hall at RIAM

The Whyte Recital Hall features 300 seats in an acoustically designed horseshoe layout, Dublin’s only purpose-built chamber music recital hall. Lined with luxurious timber, completed with important Irish artworks, and featuring an upper balcony and choir balcony, the audience is closely connected around performers, creating a shared intimate experience for musicians and audiences alike.

This beautifully crafted hall is a genuine step-change from our current facility - made of oak, with comfortable fixed seating rising above a generous stage.

Designed by Todd Architects, best known for designing the Titanic Belfast and as the firm behind the Irishtown Stadium in Ringsend and the Belfast Waterfront Exhibition and Conference Centre; with award-winning acousticians Sound Space Vision (Menuhin Hall, Surrey; Storey's Field Centre, Cambridge; Koerner Hall, Toronto) and theatre lighting designer Paul Keogan, this is a professional standard solo and chamber music hall with exceptional acoustics.

Its unique design, professional finish and atmosphere supports performance at the highest level.

The Whyte Recital Hall, named after major donor Stephen Whyte, opened in September 2023. Is the 'jewel in the crown' of RIAM activities—the space where the very youngest RIAM students to the pre-professionals perform.
