Class Duration: 90 mins
Fee: €1,150 for the Academic year starting September 2026

RIAM’s Leaving Cert Music course supports senior cycle students who wish to take Music as a subject outside their own school timetable. Taught by Leaving Cert Music specialist Kim Fallen Bailey, the course combines strong preparation for the written paper with practical support for performance, composition and listening.

Our students include:

  • Pupils whose school does not offer Leaving Cert Music
  • Students who are already taking a full subject load in school and prefer to study Music in a dedicated setting

What the course covers

  • Listening paper
Study of set works, Irish music and general listening.
  • Practical performance
Coaching and preparation for solo and ensemble performance on instrument or voice.
  • Composition
Guidance on composition techniques and exam style questions.
  • Exam skills
Past papers, timing and exam strategies tailored to each student.

How it works

Classes take place at RIAM during the school year and are scheduled to work alongside students’ school commitments.

Course places are limited so that teachers can give personal attention and feedback.

Many students studying with us for Leaving Cert Music also take Individual Lessons or sing in Junior Choirs, although this is not a requirement.
