The RIAM Percussion Ensemble is gearing up for its exciting East Coast USA tour this April, and to kick things off, they’re inviting audiences to a special pre-tour pop-up concert. The ensemble will perform on Thursday, 17 April at 7 PM in the Vernon Studio, offering a rare, behind-the-scenes glimpse into their tour programme.
This informal, one-night-only event will feature the ensemble running their full set—electronics and film included—for the very first time. Audiences can expect a dynamic and diverse program, including classical Chinese percussion, a minimalist marimba quartet with live electronics, an aleatoric percussion piece, and an electrifying dance-inspired work by Pulitzer Prize finalist Jlin. The evening will also include original music set to the 1905 silent film The Mermaid.
With introductions and insights shared live before each piece, this promises to be an engaging, genre-blurring night of sound and cinema.
