Published: 15th Jun, 2020

Congratulations to Ríona Ó Duinnín on her appointment to the position of Associate Principal Flute with the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra.

Ríona is a former student, turned distinguished faculty member at the Royal Irish Academy of Music. In recent years, she has performed as guest principal flute with a number of orchestras including the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, RTÉ Concert Orchestra, and RTÉ NSO themselves, and has been principal flute with the Wexford Festival Opera Orchestra since 2006.

This new appointment was announced by the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra, accompanied by a socially distanced video performance of Tchaikovsky's 'Dance of the Mirlitons' from The Nutcracker, performed by Ríona and her fellow NSO flautists Catriona Ryan, Sinead Farrell, and Deborah Clifford—all RIAM alumni.
