The Royal Irish Academy of Music was delighted to launch our Classic Blend: Adult Division Orchestra this autumn term. This offering celebrates music as a shared human experience and brings together adult players in a supportive, lively, and musically rich environment. Classic Blend invites musicians to rediscover the joy of playing as part of something vibrant and communal. Expect music-making that balances learning, laughter, and connection.
September starts with Phase One, devoted to bowed strings: violin, viola, cello, and double bass. From January 2026, Phase Two will expand to include wind, brass, and potentially percussion, creating an ensemble vibrant in colour and texture.
Led by conductor Davide Forti, rehearsals are designed for musical growth and social connection. You’ll develop ensemble skills, sharpen your rhythmic awareness, refine expression, and gain performance experience in a welcoming, low-pressure setting. The term concludes with a relaxed public concert that celebrates progress, not perfection.
Davide Forti brings a dynamic blend of artistry and mentorship to the strings. A prize-winning cellist with experience in orchestral, chamber, and solo performance, he holds the Recital Artist Diploma from RIAM and performs regularly with Ireland’s professional ensembles. He embodies high-performance artistry met with humility, care, and a deep commitment to nurturing musicians of all levels.
At RIAM we believe music thrives when it’s shared. Classic Blend aligns with our mission to make Ireland’s musical imagination visible, by creating a space where adult learners can develop artistry, connect socially, and contribute to a thriving musical community. By focusing on strong ensemble skills, supportive leadership, and performance experience, this course reflects our commitment to artistic clarity, care, and high-performance learning.
