The function of registration is to ensure that RIAM has full and accurate records for each student. All students must register online before the programme commences. Online registration allows students to pay fees, and access essential college resources such as Moodle, results etc. It also ensures you are registered with the validating body. Students who do not register cannot successfully participate in college life, cannot take examinations and will not be able to graduate.
Completing your registration means registering online and paying your fees in part or in full depending on the course. Only then are you fully registered and will be entitled to access the services provided by the College to its students. Once online registration opens, the Tertiary Office will notify you via email.

When do examinations usually take place?
For programmes that are divided into semesters, examinations typically take place during each semester. A supplemental examination sitting normally takes place at the end of the academic year and before the next academic year starts – typically in August.
Where can I find the examination dates & times?
Examination dates can be found on the College Calendar | RIAM and are emailed to students by the Tertiary Office.
How can I get access to my results once they are released?
The overall final mark is released via Moodle Exam results . To access your performance results and transcripts, please log into RIAM/Classter using your email and password. For a walkthrough on how to access results, you can read our guide
Registration for Supplemental Exams
If you have failed or did not complete a subject during the academic year, you must retake the subject at the supplemental sitting normally held in August. The Tertiary Office will automatically re-register you for this sitting, and students will be invoiced for any relevant repeat fees * Supplement exam fee €150.
What happens if I need to defer an exam?
In the event that a student does not attend an examination, they should contact their Head of Faculty or the Administrative Officer immediately. If an illness may prevent the student from attending an examination (or any part thereof) they should consult a medical advisor immediately.
Deferrals are only granted for reasons such as bereavement, illness or extenuating circumstances such as caring for others or jury duty (this would require supporting documentation). In the event that you need to defer your assessment to the next exam sitting due to illness or extenuating circumstances, you must submit an Absence/Deferral from Exams and Assessments Form.
