Join Cruit Éireann|Harp Ireland for our annual Gala Concert Sonóir which takes place in the stunning surroundings of the Whyte Recital Hall at the Royal Irish Academy of Music on Sunday, 30 November 2025. This stellar event in the harp calendar brings together some of Ireland’s finest harpers and musicians for an unforgettable evening of harp music and more.
Dynamic harp duo Cormac De Barra and Anne-Marie O'Farrell perform a lively programme of harp duets, spanning Europe's musical traditions from the baroque to the present.
The 20 strong Harp Ireland Ensemble, led by harper Síofra Ní Dhubhghaill, presents the premiere of a newly-commissioned work based on music of the ancient harpers by the acclaimed harper-composer Michael Rooney, specially arranged for our 2025 cross-border festival Harps Alive|An Chruit Bheo.
Another Cruit Éirean|Harp Ireland commission Sonóir, a Mel Mercier composition with support from the Arts Council, also has its first performance on the night with an innovative lineup; harpers Alannah Thornburgh and Niamh O Brien are joined by bassoonist Sinéad Frost and Malachy Robinson on Viola da Gamba with Mel Mercier, percussion in a work that contributes to 21st Century innovation in Irish harp repertoire and performance.
Highlighting the current diversity of Irish harping, harper Lisa Canny and founder member of Biird, joins fellow Biird member Laura Doherty, drummer Tod Doyle and guitarist and bassist Niall Hughes for a dynamic boundary-breaking finale blending tradition, artistry and innovation.
